Leeds United have re-entered the race to sign Blackburn Rovers hitman Ben Bereton Diaz according to the report from the stables of TEAMtalk. It was revealed that the Lilywhites are ready to fight for the Chilean international during this summer’s transfer window after securing their status in the Premier League for the new season.
The Lilywhites have already been active in the transfer window before it officially opens next week on the back of securing their Premier League status. The odds were against Leeds in the relegation battle on the last day of the season, but they eventually survived thanks to the 2-1 away win over Brentford. Leeds United have already signed American midfielder Brendon Aaronson from Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian top flight in a deal reported to be around £23m.
For Blackburn Rovers striker Diaz, Leeds United will have to see off Premier League rivals such as Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers if they want to sign the player. One of the major transfer plans at Leeds United this summer is to boost their attack and the Blackburn Rovers star is a major transfer target in that regard.
Ben Bereton Diaz has become one of the most sought-after English Championship players due to his aggressive style of play in addition to his work ethic. He scored 22 goals in 37 games for Blackburn Rovers during the just concluded season on the back of a promising Copa America outing for Chile last summer. He was part of the Chile squad beaten by hosts Brazil in the quarterfinals.
Apart from Diaz, Leeds United have also been linked with a move for Liverpool attacking talent Takumi Minamino. The Japanese international is a bit-part player at Liverpool and he could move to a new club this summer to secure more first-team football.
